    The primary purpose of Cartesian’s website, Cartesian.com, is to be a resource and business tool to help you learn more about Cartesian.  We collect no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us.  We want you to be comfortable with sharing your name and contact information with us, and to know what we do with your information when it is trusted to us.  This Privacy Policy applies to the Cartesian website and services offered from the Cartesian website.

    Information about your website visit

    Information collected and stored automatically: if you do nothing during your visit but browse through the site, read pages or download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically.  We automatically collect and store information such as the following concerning your visit:

    This website operates an email communications program, used to inform subscribers about products and services supplied by Cartesian and to share news, events, and insights from Cartesian.

    You can subscribe through an online automated process should you wish to do so but do so at your own discretion.  Some subscriptions may be manually processed through prior written agreement with you.  Subscriptions are taken in compliance with UK Spam Laws detailed in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.  All personal details relating to subscriptions are held securely and in accordance with the GDPR .

    If you receive emails from us, we may use certain analytics tools, to capture data such as when you open our email or click on any links or banners our email contains.  Such tracked activity may include: the opening of emails, forwarding of emails, the clicking of links within the email content, times, dates and frequency of activity.  We use this information to gauge the effectiveness of our communications and marketing campaigns as well as supply you with more relevant content based around your activity.

    In compliance with UK Spam Laws and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 you may unsubscribe at any time through an automated system.  This process is detailed at the footer of each email campaign.  If an automated un-subscription system is unavailable, clear instructions on how to unsubscribe will be detailed instead.

    Communication, engagement and actions taken through external social media platforms that Cartesian participates on are custom to the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policies held with each social media platform respectively.  If communicating through social media platforms, Cartesian will only ask you for the minimum personal contact data (e.g. name, email address, company) necessary in order to give you information that you request. This website may use social sharing buttons which help share web content directly from web pages to the social media platform in question.  Before using such social sharing buttons, you should use your discretion and note that the social media platform may track and save your request to share a web page respectively through your social media platform account.

    Shortened links in social media

    Cartesian’s social media platform accounts may share web links to relevant web pages.  By default some social media platforms shorten lengthy urls [web addresses] (this is an example: http://bit.ly/2n17DZp).  You are advised to take caution and good judgement before clicking any shortened urls published on social media platforms by Cartesian.  Despite the best efforts to ensure only genuine urls are published, many social media platforms are prone to spam and hacking and therefore Cartesian cannot be held liable for any damages or implications caused by visiting any shortened links.

    RETENTION AND DESTRUCTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

    We destroy the information we collect when the purpose for which it was provided has been fulfilled unless we are required to keep it longer by statute or official policy.  Electronically submitted information is maintained and destroyed according to GDPR, the principles of the Federal Records Act and the regulations and records schedules approved by the National Archives and Records Administration.
